Hello Boogie and Disco Heads/Modern Soul Lovers,
Here's some rare Nigerian LPs that you may find interesting. I have included the titles and sound samples for each LP. I can send photos of the covers and labels if you email me at boxengo@yahoo.com (I cannot do it throught the danceclassics, net email system). Also, if you have any trouble opening the sounndfiles, please email me at boxengo@yahoo.com, and I can send you the files directly.
I am using this forum to avoid Ebay fees (about 10%), but if you wish the security of Ebay, I am happy to use it, but I would add 10% to the price to make up for the Ebay fees. I think many of you know me by now, or can see my feedback as boxengo on ebay.com, or on soulstrut.com and fryermantis.com. You can also google me as Chris Meserve, M.D. : yes, I am a doctor, but one who works in public hospitals with African Refugees and Asylum Seekers, and so I need to sell records to keep up with living costs in New York! But I offer this information to assure those of you who do not know me and may feel uncomfortable with financial transactions with someone they do not know. I am honest and not a hustler!
OK, prices are in Euros, and postage is 20 Euros for each parcel, no matter how many records you buy. I use United States Postal Service Global Priority Air Mail. It is traceable, and I will provide you with the identification number of your parcel after I send it.
Payment is either through paypal to boxengo@yahoo.com, or to Chris Meserve via westernunion.com (both can take a credit card).
If you buy multiple items, I can make a discount.
I can also read French, but not write it (I can write back in Latin, but it probably won't help either of us!).
I hope you hear some nice music in this selection, and if for any reason you do not want to be on this list, please email me at boxengo@yahoo.com to let me know, and i will remove your address from the list. It is a hidden list, so no one else sees your address, but I understand if someone does not want their name on a list.
Also, let me know of any wants, I have more stuff here in my record catacombe.
Sincerely,
Chris Meserve

B. Eppi Fanio and Farofa Joy Movements. Bliss Records, Made in Nigeria, 1984. Lemmy Jackson produced and arranged; Lemmy also plays the keyboards and synths. Carol Bridi on back-up vocals. Cover: VG+ Vinyl: NM Price: 80 Euros

C. Jake Sollo "Coming Home". Nigerian EMI, Made in Kenya (all Nigerian EMI were made in Kenya in 1977-79 due to political issues). 1978? Kiki Gyan on keyboards and backing vocals. Cover: Fair Vinyl: Good (numerous marks, but the record plays without skips or sticks, and has constant low background noise: check the samples.) The music is energetic and overcomes the noise usually, but it is not a new record! This record is very rare, as fewer of the Kenyan pressings made it back to Nigeria, and the music is excellent, so this is why I offer it in this condition and at at this price: 145 Euros

D. Jombo "Pure Pleasure". Ultra-rare LP on Woods Records, 001 in their series, never seen anything else on it, a small label out of Lagos, Nigeria (made in Nigeria, of course). Gorgeous melodies and superb musicianship, check out all the tracks, but make sure you hear "all my love" and 'melodiscolypso' to the end of their clips, and enjoy "peace of mind", "squeeze me", and 'pure pleasure'. Amazing stuff. Unfortunately, the edge has a slight warp and on my non-DJ turntable, the first 10 seconds on each side skips (I included the skips on first track on each side: 'peace of mind' and 'melodiscolpyso II disco mix'.) It may not skip on a DJ turntable or with a heavier cartridge setting. But otherwise, the vinyl is NM, unplayed except by me. The cover is VG+. This may be the only copy any of us ever see, even i this condition (small obscure label from Lagos, limited production....thy don't come much rare than this.) Since my wife wants to keep this one, it has to go for a high price : 750 Euros
